Weekend still life

This was a Valentines day painting.  12″ X 10″, Oil on canvas.  I’m trying to hone my skills here without getting too specific.  I do not want to include too much detail, thereby distracting from the message.

Still Life on kitchen table

This is an oil on canvas 10″ X 12″.  With this still life I am trying to explore the interaction of shape and color.  I was looking for a sense of harmony, not detail.  I sometimes think that detail is secondary, or even unimportant.
